How do you spot a fake government job ad in Pakistan?
Not a government website. Always apply on the official site. About Asami
A government job ad is fake if you cannot find the same advertisement number, post and last date on the body’s own website, or if it asks you to pay a person, a mobile wallet number or a private account. Fake ads use real department names, copied logos and urgent deadlines to collect “fees”; here is how to check one in two minutes.
The one rule: never pay a job fee to a person, a phone number or a private account. Pay only through the official channel printed in the official ad.
Six warning signs
Money to a person
A fee to a mobile wallet, a personal bank account or “the officer”. Commissions take fees only against a PSID generated on their own website, or through the channel printed in their own ad.
Guaranteed selection
“Pay and you are selected”, “seat confirmed”, “no test needed”. Commissions select on merit through tests and interviews.
WhatsApp-only contact
No official website, only a phone number or a WhatsApp group. Real ads name the commission or department and its website.
A look-alike website
Logos copied onto a site with a strange address. The commissions use addresses like fpsc.gov.pk, ppsc.gop.pk, spsc.gov.pk, kppsc.gov.pk and bpsc.gob.pk.
Pressure
“Only today”, “last 10 seats”. Real last dates are printed in the ad and the same for everyone.
Documents up front
Asking for your CNIC copy, degrees or bank details on WhatsApp before any official process. Commissions collect documents through their portals or at the interview stage.
The two-minute check
- 1Note the body named in the ad (FPSC, PPSC, a ministry, the Army) and the advertisement number.
- 2Open that body’s website yourself, from our official portals list, not from a link in the message.
- 3Find the same advertisement number, post and last date there.
- 4Check the fee and how it is paid. If the message says anything different, believe the official site.
- 5Still unsure? Paste it into our ad checker.
If you already paid
- Call your bank or wallet helpline at once and ask them to stop or trace the transfer.
- Keep everything: screenshots of the ad and chats, the number you paid, the transaction ID.
- Report it to the Federal Investigation Agency’s public services portal, complaint.fia.gov.pk, and tell the body whose name was used.
- Warn the group or page where you saw it, so others do not pay.
Questions
Is a job ad on Facebook or WhatsApp real?
It may be a copy of a real ad, or it may be fake. Find the same ad on the commission’s or department’s own website before you do anything. If you cannot find it there, treat it as unverified.
Can anyone get me a government job for money?
No. Paying someone to get you selected is a fraud, and anyone offering it is lying. Selection is through the commission’s own merit process.
How do I check if a government job ad is real?
Open the body’s own website yourself (for example fpsc.gov.pk or ppsc.gop.pk) and find the same advertisement number, post and last date there. If it is not on the official site, treat it as unverified.
Do real government jobs ask for a fee?
Many do, but only through the channel printed in the official ad, usually a PSID generated on the commission’s own website and paid through 1Link. A request to send money to a person, a mobile wallet number or a private account is a sign of fraud.
What should I do if I paid a fake job ad?
Call your bank or wallet helpline at once, keep screenshots and the transaction ID, and report it on the FIA complaint portal, complaint.fia.gov.pk.
What do the commissions say about other websites?
PPSC’s ads say no information shared by anyone other than on the PPSC website is authentic. FPSC says its official website is the primary source of information for candidates. Asami agrees: use us to find and understand ads, then apply on the official site.
